How I work

Structured – and open to your path

Discovering – or rediscovering – your own professional identity is an individual process. I accompany my clients with a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods.

Quantitative instruments, such as questionnaires, serve as a basis for shared reflection and open up new perspectives in our conversations. Depending on the question and my clients' needs, I complement them with qualitative methods that put personal experiences, values, resources and professional visions at the centre.

This creates a framework for orientation that provides clarity and helps you consciously recognise your own professional path. The direction is not set by the methods – it is developed by my clients themselves and pursued step by step.

About me

My own career path wasn't a straight line – and that's exactly what shapes my work today

The different stages of my working life have shown me that there isn't one single right career path, but many paths that may change and evolve over the course of a life.

People, potential and professional development have accompanied me for many years. I have worked in international companies, educational institutions and political organisations, as well as in intercultural contexts, supporting people with the most varied life stories. These experiences have shaped the way I look at careers and led me to a transcultural approach. I meet people with openness and curiosity, convinced that no one can be reduced to their origin, their CV or individual experiences. Behind every professional path lie individual resources, values and potential that often only become visible in conversation.

I'm particularly interested in how professional identity emerges and changes over the course of a life. I don't see identity as something fixed, but as a process that keeps developing through experiences, reflection and new perspectives.

In my work as a career counsellor, I support people in reorienting themselves professionally, rediscovering their own worth and finding a path that fits their personality, their strengths and their life situation. I combine analytical thinking with empathy, a coaching and solution-oriented way of working, and a transcultural perspective. Together we create clarity, develop new perspectives and work out sound decisions for the next step in your career.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between a coach and a career counsellor?

A coach supports people in developing their own solutions. Through targeted questions and reflection, they help them clarify their goals, recognise their potential and make self-determined decisions.

A career counsellor also works with a coaching attitude, but additionally brings in expertise about professions, education and training, and the labour market. She helps connect personal strengths with concrete professional possibilities.

In short: a coach accompanies the development process, while a career counsellor complements this process with well-founded knowledge of educational and career paths.

What's the difference between a career counsellor and a recruitment agent?

A career counsellor supports people in clarifying their professional goals, recognising their strengths and developing suitable career or educational paths. The focus is on long-term professional development and well-founded decision-making.

A recruitment agent, on the other hand, aims to match suitable candidates with open positions. The focus is on successfully filling vacancies and on the application process.

In short: career counselling helps you find the right professional path, while recruitment helps you find a specific job.

What sets your career counselling apart from other offers?

My counselling combines well-founded knowledge from career guidance with a coaching, solution-oriented and transcultural attitude. It matters to me to understand your individual strengths, values and reality of life, and to develop solutions together that fit you sustainably.

For me, transcultural means not reducing people to their origin or culture. Every person brings a unique life story, diverse experiences and different values. I bring this individuality into the counselling – appreciatively, openly and without pigeonholing.

How long does a career counselling process take?

That depends entirely on your concern. If it's a specific question for information or a clearly defined decision, a single session can already be enough.

If, on the other hand, the focus is on a career reorientation or exploring your professional identity, the process usually needs more time. In such cases you should plan for around four to six sessions.

The intervals between appointments are normally three to four weeks. This time between conversations is an important part of the counselling process: it gives you the chance to reflect on new insights, try out first steps and gather experience. Especially when it comes to lasting professional change, the time factor plays a decisive role.
